I’m baaack! And may I say it’s been a busy but wonderful two weeks so far this month. I left on May 3 to go to Fairfield, Connecticut with Cyndi and Bill. They were going to a friend’s funeral but first dropped me off at my sister, Donna’s, house. I got to see her that night plus Saturday and Sunday. Sunday my son Mike and his wife, Kari picked us up and took us to lunch at the Duchess, a favorite drive-in eatery where we had

burgers and fries. Donna (Donnie) is suffering from dementia so it was good to see her while I still can and we can still laugh and remember our childhood. Since this blog is supposed to be about writing, I did deliver three copies of my latest book, Reinventing Joan, while I was up there.
Donnie and Me.
Cyndi and Bill picked me up very early Monday morning, the 6th, for the drive back to Angier, NC. Tuesday and Wednesday were do-nothing days as I recuperated from two long trips in short order. Thursday, Cyndi and Bill said they’d pick up dinner and stop by to see me. Little did I know, they had gone to the airport to pick up Mike and his son Monterey who had flown in to be here for Mother’s Day! I was blown away. Friday, M&M (Mike and 25-year-old Monterey) and I walked around the local park, then came home and played golf and bowling on wii. The next day we drove to Wilmington, NC to tour the Battleship North Carolina. That ship is massive!
We arrived at Cyndi and Bill’s for dinner per her invitation.
We walked in, I was still on Cloud 9 to be with my son and grandson, and who should be waiting for me but my daughter, Tammy Sue and her husband Curtis.

They, too, had flown down to be with me for Mother’s Day! Now I had ALL my kids with me—Tammy, Cyndi and Mike plus Monterey. I was overwhelmed with joy!!! On Sunday we all went out to breakfast together,
Mike, Me, Monterey, Curtis, Tammy, Cyndi, Bill
then back to Cyndi and Bill’s porch for laughter and reminiscing. M&M had to leave to go home Monday and Tam and Curtis had to leave Wednesday, after a trip to the park and introducing them to wii bowling back at my house.
To say I was exhausted by the end of the week is an understatement. But I wouldn’t trade that feeling for the world considering it brought all my kids to me as one huge Mother’s Day surprise. Many kudos to Cyndi and Bill for all the trips they made to the Raleigh Airport and back to provide this surprise for me! I am blessed indeed!
I can only wish each of you a day as special as the one I had. Please let me know about your day and what you did. I would love to hear about it.
